Spell Check - The PC Prankster

SpellbuttonAs foretold in the Matrix, computers may take over the world some day. But even then, they may still need human copyeditors to fix the computer-generated malapropisms of spell-check. Take for example the email I once received from a woman who, intending to apologize for a logistical snafu, told me that she was "sorry for the incontinence."

TMI !

To see how bad it could get, I typed up -- using only my thumbs -- this ill-fated cover letter. I ran it through Microsoft Word's spell and grammar check in 1999, and was startled that -- aside from some names -- everything passed. I just ran it again through the current version of Microsoft Word.

Guess what? It still passed.

Re: Fact Checker Positron

Dean Mrs. Smitten,

I am writhing in replay to your adversity pasted in the Sin Francisco Conical lust Sunday.

I most say that I was delegated too fund information about your farm’s opening for a facet checker in the illegal deportment. Indent, I certainty appropriate the needle of a bushiness, suck as yours, to insecure that it has accede to the latest date and informality, in order to suave it’s customary in toady’s fist-changing bushiness world. In edition, I would certainty fund it very interfering to peruse a career in the finical services. So, as you wall sea, this could wall be a very god match for us booth.

Now, unto the specious ditties of this particulate positron, I can assuage you with grate certainly that I posse an inherent attenuation to detail. In our fast-mowing, economically grooving society, it is for to essay far us to mist the litter details as we rash to furnish our countess bushiness tasks. Three are so marry chances, in the course of our dairy affairs, in witch Eros can inter into our calculators. Fortunately, I have decimated myself to the restless purist of perfunctory. That is must pronounced in my sturdy of bushiness admiration over the post sex yeas. I mite ad that theses accomplishments have bean acknowledged by my universally with the transitional horror Magna Cum Louder.

Align with this coven litter, you wall lasso fund my resume and a lust of referees. I hop to here form you vary soon.

Bust Washes,

Shame Peterson
